What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a safe, natural, non-invasive complementary health therapy that can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and well-being. By reducing stress in a person’s life this can help in optimising good health. Reflexology is a touch therapy usually on the feet, sometimes on the hands.
Reflexology works on the theory that all the organs and systems in the body are mirrored in the feet and hands and by the reflexologist working on those reflected areas it may bring balance and help the body to work as well as it can.
The benefits of reflexology include; relaxation, improved circulation, can stimulate the immune system, bringing balance and harmony to the body and mind, better sleep.
Reflexology does not claim to cure and should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice but it may help with some of these common conditions; stress and anxiety, back pain, muscle pain, digestive disorders, IBS, PMT , insomnia and more
Reflexology works on an individual basis, the reflexologist will provide professional facilitation of your body’s own potential for well-being.
What happens during a reflexology treatment?
At the start of your first treatment a full consultation will be taken including details of your medical history, lifestyle and general health. The reflexologist will then suit the treatment to tailor your needs. During the treatment the feet are worked on so you remain fully clothed, just removing your socks and shoes. The treatment can be done on the hands if you would prefer.
After your treatment many people feel relaxed, some say they feel tired. It is advisable to drink plenty of water after the treatment to flush out any toxins.
